Yarnbombing-by-the-Jafagirls

Who is this mysterious face? The JafaGirls of Yellow Springs, Ohio keep it fresh by mixing up a bit of fabric paint, stenciling, and yarn. Check out JafaBrit’s blog for some cool art.

This past weekend, Mandy and I spoke on Word on the Street, a one day literary festival at the Vancouver Public Library. We were at Word Under the Street – the comix and zine area. It was a lot of fun. Nardwaur (one of the coolest Canadian celebrities) was the MC. We showed off projects from the book and covered a bike in wool as an homage to the many artists who have created wooly bikes.

Nardwaur quizzes me about the Halifax Explosion, and I momentarily blank out…my only response is a feeble ‘…of yarn?’

I’ll have to post a picture of the completed bike (and a round-up of other artists who have covered bikes and motorbikes) soon. All in all, Word on the Street was a fun, fun day and it was amazing to see so many people knitting and crocheting in the audience.
