Mini buttons!

img_0661

Mandy and I had a great time at Fibres West. We met a lot of great people and came home with more wool than we arrived with. There were spinners, there were llamas, and there were a whole bunch of people who seemed really receptive to yarn graffiti. It was a fun day.

For the event, our publisher helped us make some snazzy mini buttons. We have three slogans:

‘Yarn Bomber’
‘I love subversive crochet’
‘I love guerrilla knitting’

I have about ten complete sets left which I’m giving away to the first ten people to comment and leave us a link to a piece of yarn graffiti!

    Hi Molly,

Your Ravelry gallery will do! What is the your user name? Molli?

I just did a quick Google and found this brilliant example …. boxing gloves on a statue – http://maskerade.blogsome.com/2009/02/18/mama-said-knock-you-out/

I’d love some buttons – it might get me motivated to get out there and start yarnbombing myself.

  4. Hi — I think the buttons are fabulous. here is my blog post featuring a picture of one of my guerrilla knitting installations: it also links to my Flickr group with other pix.

Any chance you two might come out to Olds College Fibre Week?

to yarn bombing we’ve done ourselves? aw, i haven’t done any!

however, i’m super excited about your book, and hoping it’ll inspire me to whip out my crochet hook for the first time in ages! and how exciting that it’s being printed by arsenal press! they’re my favourite non-crafty book publisher, if they start doing more crafty books, they’ll be my favourite publisher of all time!

i wish i could have made it out to fibres west myself!

if you ever consider selling the buttons i’ll be first in line to buy “i love subversive crochet”!

    Oh! Exciting!!!

here’s something orange. It isn’t something I did, but I see it everyday and love it!

    see you!

Hi guys, thanks for the links! I will send you an email to get your postal address.

I still have four button sets to give away – links do NOT NEED to be to your own yarn bombing – just any on the internet. :)

L.M. – your knitting and the placement with the acorn is stunning!

    so much fun!

  9. Thanks muchly.

It’s a Douglas fir cone, actually, and I have a whole bag of them — cones, I mean.

And I’ve now got almost 40 different cosies: all handspun (by me), some commercially dyed, some dyed by me, most of them natural coloured yarns. I’m working on a major installation for later this month that I’m hoping to turn into a solo show.

wait wait… how many comments are there? anyway, buttons are a good idea! maybe if they are not too expensive they would make prettier tags for the graffiti. hmm must look into this.

Thanks everyone! The mini button sets have been spoken for! I’ll mail them out tomorrow.

    she’s a fibre artist/instructor at Cap!

  17. Leanne says:

Really? So funny! Everyone that we talk to seems to know you Knitgirl!

  18. Denise says:

Are there any plans of making more buttons and selling them?

  19. leanne says:

    Hi Denise,

I hadn’t thought of selling them but we’ve gone through our first batch so quickly that I’m thinking that we may be able to do this so that anyone who wants them can have them. Good idea! I’ll email you if we do this.

    Leanne

I hope I still have a chance to win a button… My yarn bombing is still a work in progress, but here is a picture of what I have so far. A friend and I are going to cover six sign posts on our college campus… I’m making the covers, and she is making a bunch of flowers and leaves to decorate them.
