Crochet me a pencil.

Bleary-eyed. Bright and early this morning.

Bright and early this morning.

Thanks to the CBC radio for having me and Mandy on your show this morning! It was fun to chat about the patterns in our upcoming book.

If you heard the show, and are looking for KnitGirl, the knitter of the Strathcozies that Mandy mentioned, you can see her work on her Flickr site. On the radio today, Mandy and I chatted about large scale projects – they tend to be the kind of yarn bombing that grab the most attention – but we also like the tiny stuff too. Small pieces can have a great impact. KnitGirl’s tags are a great example of small but powerful work.

On the flip side, Robyn Love, an incredible yarn artist, emailed me about a new project today – Make It A Pencil. She and her team of peeps (Rosemarie Krist, Willena Nanton, Leslie S., Jill Schreier, Sam Shubitz, and Barbara Van Elsen) crocheted a cozy that transformed a water tower in New York City into a pencil. Check out this amazing video:

I’m inspired to “preen the icy latrine” at my local Parks & Rec outdoor restroom…TOILET SEAT COZIES!

I heard you on CBC the other day and am TOTALLY inspired! I live on Salt Spring Island and have recently joined a small knitting group– there are lots of Yarn Bombing opportunities here and we are keen to work on projects together.

I am looking for a pattern for the knit tulips by the group in the Netherlands…can you point me in the direction of this or a similar pattern? Thanks!

Hi Clare, thanks for your message. I’d love to see some y-bombing on Salt Spring! My friend Joanie Paterson works at the yarn store on the island.

There will be a knitted tulip pattern from Knitted Landscape in our book which will be out in September. In the meantime, take a look at their site at: http://knittedlandscape.com/. There is a lot of inspiration on their website!
