About/Contact

Yarn Bombing is a blog about knit graffiti. It is written by two knitters, Mandy Moore and Leanne Prain, who live in Vancouver, Canada. In 2005, we met at a stitch and bitch. Mandy taught Leanne how to knit short rows and opened up a world of possibilities for her.
In 2009,Arsenal Pulp Press published our book Yarn Bombing: The Art of Knit Graffiti (Fall 2009). This blog is a chronicle of our research into knit (and crochet) graffiti groups from around the world. If you are a knit or crochet graffiti artist, and would like to tell us about your experiences, drop us a line at Leanne@yarnbombing.com. Due to the volume of submissions we receive, we are unable to respond to every email that comes our way, though we try to whenever possible.
PRESS INQUIRIES – We try to answer press questions and refer journalists to sources that will help them with their stories. Please state in your deadlines in your communication.
STUDENT JOURNALISTS AND THESIS RESEARCHERS – Due to the number of questions that we get from student writers (thesis, documentaries, and journalism), we are in the process of writing an FAQ. Many of the answers to the questions that we are commonly asked be found in our book Yarn Bombing: The Art of Crochet and Knit Graffiti. While we try to assist with school projects when we can, we do hear from many students and we are not able to help everyone.
A bit about Leanne and Mandy:
A graduate of the Alberta College of Art and Design, Mandy Moore now lives in Vancouver, BC with her small family of husband and cat. She is the technical editrix of popular online knitting magazine Knitty.com, and of various other knitting and crochet books and publications. She is a hardcore making-things evangelist, and will probably try to convince you that you should try (knitting, crocheting, sewing, painting) too! She blogs about her lifeĀ at www.yarnageddon.com.
Upon learning to knit, Leanne Prain co-founded a stitch and bitch called Knitting and Beer in order to expand her skills while knitting at the pub. While the group has disbanded, she continues to be amazed at what can be created with two needles and a bit of yarn. A professional graphic designer, Leanne holds degrees in creative writing, art history, and publishing. She lives and knits in Vancouver, BC. She recently finished writing a new book on unconventional embroidery called Hoopla: The Art of Unexpected Embroidery.
